Dr Charles Middleburgh is a congregational rabbi in Ireland and Wales, founder rabbi of Congregation Shir HaTzaphon in Copenhagen and Honorary Director of Studies at the Leo Baeck College in London; he also lectures at the Irish School of Ecumenics, Trinity College, Dublin. In spite of a peripatetic working life he is based in the UK where he shares his life with his wife and an array of non-human animal companions.

A passion for photography which started at the age of 7, combined with a lifelong love of birds and animals has encouraged him to take wildlife photos of wherever and whenever he has the opportunity; he has photographed in many of the world’s great zoos and also in the Royal Chitwan national park in Nepal.

A book reviewer for the last seven years, his reviews have been published, inter alia, in the Church Times, the Expository Times, the Jewish Chronicle, and MANNA magazine and the bi-monthly newsletter of Liberal Judaism. He reviews books of specific interest to him both professionally and privately under the headings listed on the review pages.

Rabbi Middleburgh hopes you will return to the site to read his reviews, which will be regularly updated, and also to glance at his photos.
